The metal etching process covers the metal material plate with a film that needs to be protected, and then makes a metal film pattern. The pattern is printed on the metal material by screen printing or screen printing using an exposure machine.
Since the film plays a role in covering the part that needs to be protected, the part that does not need to be protected is corroded by chemical corrosion or electrochemical methods. Finally, the protective film is removed to obtain the product that needs to be made. It is widely used in the production of signs, circuit boards, metal crafts, metal patterns, etc. Different hardware materials have different properties, precision, and depth, and the etching methods used are also different, which also creates different formulas for etching solutions. For example, the etching solution for aluminum and the etching solution for stainless steel are completely different. The main reason is that aluminum is more active. The etching solution for titanium and the etching solution for stainless steel are also different.
- Chemical etching method – using ferric chloride and water to form a strong acid or strong alkali solution to chemically corrode the unprotected parts. This is also the most common method in the etching process. The advantage is that etching can achieve half-engraving and the batch production speed is fast. The disadvantage is that the etching liquid is very polluting to the production environment and is not easy to recycle. Zhuolida Etching uses Japanese standards to build an independent etching liquid recycling system, which can effectively include environmental protection in the key recovery rate of more than 92%.
- Electrochemical etching method – using electrolyte to energize and use the workpiece to produce anode dissolution to achieve the purpose of etching. The main advantages are small environmental pollution and harmlessness to operators. The disadvantages are that batch etching cannot meet the requirements, and the current rate distribution is uneven and the etching depth cannot meet the requirements.
- Laser etching method – the etching cost is relatively high. It is widely used in PCB and PCBA industries for printed circuit boards. The process of laser etching is similar to that of chemical etching. For smaller flat workpieces, the coating process can be completed by silk screen printing. For large areas, surface coating and development, that is, the process of chemical corrosion, is used.
The method used for metal etching mainly depends on the material and the purpose of the process drawing. The conventional method is chemical etching. With a lot of evidence, many meshes are processed in this way.
